Description

ARTIST INFORMATION

This piece came out much better than expected. I worked a lot with the background this time, cheated a little bit and used some brushes, but overall, I love this piece. Meet Budweiser, a.k.a. Buddy, a potential new addition to Sweet Pea Farms. I wanted to really show him in the environment that he will be placed in, the soon to be snowy Maine, complete with pine trees and the sort. Plus this was an excuse to draw some snow!

Because he's just a foal, and a lively one at that, I couldn't do much for test rides. But here he is, showing off and playing in the new snow on the ground.

Also, his name was suggested by my boyfriend, who thought the image looked like a Budweiser advertisement. With the "showiness" of those advertisements, I had to go with it c:

This took me a good 10+ hours. I saw this colt and couldn't stop working on this image. I didn't time myself...I really should start doing that.

Also, forgive my storytelling. I haven't done anything that has to do with stables in awhile.

STORYTIME

Kimberly Wickk, the very young, but very proud owner of Sweet Pea Farms, couldn't help herself when she saw the advertisement for the sales of the Norwegian Warmbloods. An excellent breed known for their success in the showing world, she was immediately drawn to them, as any horse owner would be.

The excitement she felt as she stepped onto the property was immense, growing even more so as she was greeted by the owner and escorted to see the available horses. "I am more interested in something a bit older. We're a new stable, still building parts of it, and don't quite have the ability to train a foal," she had told them, but even with the request, she was shown the younger horses. They were all spectacular, in her opinion, with potential to be champions, but she forced herself back.

At least, until she eyed the seal bay colt. He was different than the rest of the horses, with a natural eye to please and show just how amazing he was, even if the opinion was just his. The colt eyed Kimberly, an ambition glittering in them.

"How old is he?" she asked.

Two months. Barely born. Yet so much life in him, raring to go. As she asked, he bolted away, sprinting off as far as the walls would take him. Kimberly gave a smile, nodding to herself. "I'll take him. Oh boy won't Justin be furious."

Very nice job on this, I like the Tail detail, as well as the snow on his legs, it adds a nice amount of realism.
